Yopo, also known as Piptadenia peregrina or Anadenanthera peregrina is a tree where the seeds are used for a psychedelic experience. The use of yopozaden has a long history in shamanistic culture in South America. The snuff that can be made from the yopo seeds is called cohoba . It is often blown into the nose with the aid of wooden tubes.

After use one often enters a psychedelic dreamy state that lasts about 15 minutes, after which it lasts half an hour. When yopo is snorted in the traditional way it quickly shoots to the brain causing many headaches, nausea and dizziness. It is also well known that people vomit at higher doses. Some describe themselves as feeling reborn after such a yopo trip.
Heat the seeds in a pan on low heat. When the Yopo seeds burst open, you can remove the pan from the fire. Remove the husk and keep the inner part. Then reheat the inner part on low heat. Remove the remainder of the fire when it becomes hard and grainy. Grind the remainder with a coffee grinder or mortar. Then mix 2 parts seed with 1 part calcium hydroxide and 1 part baking powder. Add a few drops of water so that it becomes a dough-like substance. Mix well and heat gently until the material is dry. Grind it again with a mortar or coffee grinder to a fine powder. The recommended dosage is 1-4 seeds per person.
If you are using it for the first time it is better to start on the low side to see how sensitive you are to the substances. It is easiest to blow the powder into someone else's nose because it doesn't feel fine to sniff it.
